The Luthier Workshop offers advice and service on a range of bowed string instruments. New customer service options are available at the store located at 6 Ayuntamiento Street, Centro neighborhood, in Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico. By appointment only.
Regular violin, viola and cello tuning and repair services:
- Tuning pegs . Corrected rotation, alignment, and repositioning of string holes. Corrected bushing holes in the tuning pegbox.
- Capo . Carved from high-density ebony. Adjustable height and string spacing. Corrected string channels prevent string breakage.
- Fingerboard . Replacement and/or adjustment for bend and wear due to use. Brushed in the area where it attaches to the neck. Glued with animal glue.
- Handle . Polished and sealed for improved feel. Surface integration with the fingerboard.
- Arm . Re-attachment and projection change
- Soul . Gear shifting and repositioning have been completed and reground in contact areas to improve balance and maximize acoustic response.
- Bridge . Shape and thickness adjustment, ground in contact areas with the top to increase the instrument's flexibility and resonance.
- Deep cleaning . Removal of tar and embedded dirt with a cleaning fluid that protects the varnish.
- Interior cleaning . Removal of dust and lint lodged inside the instrument.
- Varnish touch-up . Sealing and matching the tone of exposed wood areas.
- Fracture bonding . Cleaning and applying animal glue to fractures on any part of the instrument. Placement of grafts if necessary.
- Changing the resonance frequency of the top . If the instrument lacks a good sound response, the tuning of the top can be changed by thinning the thickness and/or replacing the sound bar.
- Signature instrument construction. You can request a custom instrument, either a model or a bazniz, with a lead time of no less than 6 months.
