
The violin as an object of study
Liliana Holguín studied a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (Professional Certificate 7004577). She began her studies in luthier under the tutelage of master luthier Alvaro Escalante at the Morelos Center for the Arts. The author of "Holguín Luthier" specializes in developing teaching materials for luthier making, using computer-aided design (CAD) as a tool.She was recently awarded the 'Best Novice Builder' award for the highest score in his category for tone and construction at the 2021 Southern Violin Association violin building competition. In 2022, she was awarded the Certificate in Luthier by the National Institute of Fine Arts in Santiago de Querétaro, México, under the predominant tutelage of master builders Antonio Ontiveros, Tania Zepeda, and acoustics engineer Antonio Torres. She currently has his own commercial workshop , "El Violin Roto," where she offers instrument building, repair, and sales solutions to the general public.
