On April 5th, we inaugurated our new luthier workshop with a branch in Atizapán.

The work plan will begin by making an arm template based on a Stradivari model, then tracing it onto a block of maple wood, which will be our working material. Before beginning the fun part of carving the curves of the scroll and the arm in general, it will need to be plane and squared perfectly.

We'll cut the silhouette on the band saw and then work with chisels and gouges to gradually sculpt the snail's characteristic shape into the arm's volute. The tool is available here.

I have three individual workbenches ready for enthusiastic students. The workshop begins on April 5th, lasting 45 hours over three weeks, Monday through Friday, 8 to 11 a.m. A deposit is required to reserve your spot. The total cost is $2,900 Mexican pesos. Wood is not included.

We will restart the course every month, or we will continue with the remaining students.

A lot of patience, punctuality, and dedication are required, as violin making is a long, high-precision process.

We look forward to seeing you soon! Welcome :)
